Geranoaetus melanoleucus

 

 L. 70-90 cm. Broad wings and short and broad tail. The adult male has a white underside with fine blackish stripes. Upper parts black with ash-grey white zone on the wings, the silvery white seen clearly from afar. The female is distinguished by having reddish-cinnamon secondary upper and underwings and is larger than the male.

Distribution: In Chile, from Arica to Tierra del Fuego.
