Strategically located on Navarino Island, Chile, which lies within the Cape Horn World Biosphere Reserve, Lakutaia enjoys the status of being established within an area which was listed by NGO Conservation International as one of the world’s 37 most pristine wilderness areas.

By visiting Lakutaia, you will be witnessing the very same spot where Charles Darwin first met with the Yagan, the first and original inhabitants of this remote corner. These nomads of the sea, a culture adapted to the harshest and most adverse conditions on the planet, were the southernmost inhabitants of the world by having their territories in the area of mythical Cape Horn, for which they developed a complex and rich culture which allowed them to live as just one more element in their environment.

Lakutaia Hotel has 24 comfortable double rooms with private bath, central heating, international and typical regional cuisine, spacious halls for a comfortable stay and a nice library –map place where guests can look for all the topics related to ethnic groups, botany, fauna and geography of this southern region.

When you visit Lakutaia you will experience adventurous exploration through world-renown temperate forests, sub-polar evergreen rainforests, and coastal marine systems, which in turn provide habitat for different species such as sea lions, Peale's dolphin, Black dolphin, and occasional visits by orcas and Antarctic Minke whales, Magellanic woodpecker, Andean Condor, albatrosses, auks, gulls, terns, and penguins, among many other.
