In this program, you'll visit the postcards of Arica. You will get to know the historic center of Arica, the famous Valle de Azapa and lluta as well as the great Chungará Lake, You also will have the opportunity to cross the border to see Tacna and do some shopping.

If you are traveling in Arica, this tour will take you to know the best of the Chilean highlands. We will visit the Lauca National Park that stands out for its Andean flora and fauna, surrounded by volcanoes with permanent fumaroles and we’ll know the villages of Socoroma and Putre.

We will pick you up at your hotel in Arica to take the road that will lead us to the Lluta Valley, where you can admire its crops. During the ascent, you will be able to appreciate the diverse flora and fauna of the area, and we will visit the Lluta Geoglyphs. We will then arrive at the town of Poconchile and its 17th-century Church. Next, we will visit the Cardones Gorge with its candelabra cacti, the Pukara of Copaquilla, and the Tambo of Zapahuira.

We will have a panoramic view of the town of Putre before entering the Nature Sanctuary, Lauca National Park. Surrounded by the Parinacota, Pomerape, Quimsachatas, and Guallatire volcanoes, with permanent fumaroles and wildlife such as Guanacos, Alpacas, Vicuñas, Llamas, and Vizcachas. Among its landscapes, you will see the bofedales, Yareta, Paja Brava, and the Cotacotani Lagoons. We will arrive at the beautiful Chungara Lake (4,500 meters above sea level), surrounded by a stunning high-altitude landscape and birdlife (ducks, Taguas, and flamingos). We will visit the village of Parinacota (4,400 meters above sea level), with its Andean Colonial architecture and mud houses. We will then return to Putre for tea service and a City Tour.

We will return to your hotel in Arica by 8:30 p.m.

Day 3: Arica

TOUR TO ARICA AND AZAPA VALLEY

Discover the hidden heritage route of the Azapa Valley and the best of Arica, with marvelous views along the paths that will lead us to visit the Archaeological Museum of the Valley, a colonial church, an Aymara cemetery, and the geoglyphs of the area.

We will depart from your accommodation in Arica at approximately 09:00 a.m. We will visit historical sites such as the Morro de Arica and its Military Museum, which recounts its bloody battle. The Cathedral of San Marcos and the former Customs House (both designed by Eiffel's students), a coastal tour by the former Isla del Alacrán and Playa la Lisera, where the history of Arica over time is presented on panels.

We will enter the Azapa Valley (with olive, mango, passion fruit, and other crops) to see the beautiful panels on Cerro Sombrero and Cerro Sagrado, showcasing their Andean worldview. We will visit the Azapa Archaeological Museum, which presents a summarized display of the entire sociocultural development of the Central Southern Andean area. The highlight is the mystical preparation mummies of the Chinchorro Culture (10,000 years old, the oldest in the world).

Finally, we will return to your accommodation in Arica.

Day 4: Centro Histórico de Tacna

Full day excursion to Tacna, Perú

Get to know the historical and cultural side of Tacna, taste the famous Peruvian gastronomy and enjoy an entertaining afternoon of shopping in this tour of the neighboring city of Arica.

We will pick you up at your hotel to head towards Tacna, crossing the Chacalluta border between Chile and Santa Rosa, Peru. We will head to the historic heart of the city, strolling through the Civic Walk, adorned with beautiful gardens, where we will appreciate an allegory to the Tacneña Woman for her heroism. We will visit the former Municipal Palace. Then, we will see the Parabolic Stone Arch, with the heroes of the War of the Pacific, Admiral Miguel Grau and Colonel Francisco Bolognesi, as its vigilant guardians.

Next, we will visit the historical monument "Ornamental Fountain" made of bronze. We will also visit the Cathedral and Bolognesi Avenue, continuing to the Locomotive Park. We will visit the Railway Museum and the commercial center with fairs and markets offering typical products. 

Return to your hotel in Arica.
