In this travel program, you will get to know the best of Iquique. You will visit the former nitrate offices of Humberstone and Santa Laura. We will learn about archaeology, history, and enjoy the landscapes of Atacama.

Day 1: Iquique

If you want to know Iquique, our city tour will take you to the most emblematic points of the city, the Baquedano promenade, the Astoreca palace and the Municipal theater. We will also do a navigation around the bay and Puerto de Iquique.

We leave at 10:00 am from your hotel in Iquique and we will go to Brava beach. We are going to visit the church Grotto of Lourdes in the Cavancha peninsula and the Cavancha beach theme park. We will walk along the Boulevard Baquedano and visit the Astoreca Palace, the Municipal Theater, Prat Square and the Clock Tower.

Then we walk along the Lynch Promenade and through the exterior area to the replica of the real scale of the Esmeralda Corvette. We will visit the fishing cove Riquelme and the Prat pier where we take the boat to navigate the bay. After that, we visit the fishing boat sector, the Puerto de Iquique, where all the things that are sold in the Zofri mall are landed, we sail through the sea lion islets and the Esmeralga buoy, where they tell us the story and all the events that took place in the Naval Combat of Iquique on May 21, 1879.

After navigation, we take you to your hotel or if you prefer, we leave you at the Zofri mall for lunch (at the passenger's expense) and buy.

Day 2: La Tirana - Iquique - Humberstone Saltpeters

Humberstone Saltpeter and Painted Geoglyphs Tour

Discover the history preserved in the former Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works, and combine your experience with a visit to the towns of Pica and La Tirana, two icons of the Tarapacá Region.

Departure at 08:30 hrs, heading to the former Humberstone and Santa Laura Saltpeter Works (UNESCO World Heritage), to learn about its industrial machinery, where saltpeter was produced for export to Europe and the USA. Explore its dusty streets and ruins, such as the market, grocery store, theater, school, and more. Then, we’ll head south to have a box lunch at the Tamarugal Reserve and visit the CEDAM (Environmental Education Center) of CONAF, where the entire ecosystem of the reserve is displayed. Afterward, we’ll visit the Pintados Geoglyphs Park, which is the largest concentration of geoglyphs in the world, with over 300 geomorphic, anthropomorphic, and geometric figures located in thematic panels on the slopes of the Coastal Range, dating back between 900 to 1,300 years. We will cross the vast Pintados Dry Salt Flat to admire the geoglyphs. Arrival in Iquique at 19:30 hrs.

Day 3: Volcán Isluga National Park - Iquique

This tour will take you to explore the most incredible spots of this national park, highlighting the Puchuldiza geysers and the relaxing Enquelga hot springs.


We will depart at 07:30 hrs from the hotel, visiting the Giant Geoglyph of Atacama, known as the largest humanoid figure in the world. Then, we will make a stop at the Chuzmiza Gorge viewpoint. Afterward, we will cross the Aroma Valley, home to beautiful highland wildlife, and the Mars Valley or Valley of Happiness, with its geological formations.

We will visit the Andean village of Cariquima to have lunch at a typical Aymara restaurant and admire the giant candelabra cacti in the area. Then, we will head to the Isluga Volcano National Park to visit its ceremonial village, enjoying the diversity of birds along the Isluga River, as well as the vizcachas and camels in the area, such as llamas and alpacas.

Finally, we will explore the Andean villages of Mauque and Enquelga to connect with their inhabitants and enjoy the Enquelga Hot Springs. Return to the hotel in Iquique at 21:00 hrs.

Day 4: Mamiña Hot Springs - Iquique

Relax day on Mamiña Thermal Springs

They say that the warm thermal waters of Mamiña are the best in the world for skin problems and certain rheumatological diseases, in addition to providing all the relaxation you need.

We will pick you up at your hotel and head towards the route that leads to the Coastal Mountain Range, leaving behind beautiful panoramic views of Iquique. Upon reaching the Pan-American Highway, we will take the road that leads us to the village of Mamiña.

Once there, we will explore its little streets, the main square, and the 17th-century church. Then, we will arrive at the thermal baths, where we will have a few hours to relax in its hypertonic, hypothermal, sulfurous, and sodic waters, which are considered among the best in the world for the treatment of skin and rheumatic diseases.

After noon, we will have lunch at a local restaurant, after which we will visit the Mud Baths and also explore the surroundings of the village, famous for its pink volcanic stone constructions, petroglyphs, and terraced crops.

At the end of the tour, we will return to Iquique.
